What We Believe

A simple overview of the Christian faith and Nazarene beliefs that shape Millbrook.

What We Believe

Faith centred on Jesus, rooted in Scripture, lived out in love.

Millbrook is a Christian church in the Church of the Nazarene. We believe God meets people with grace, forgives, restores, and helps us become more like Jesus.

This page is a simple overview. You do not need to understand every word before coming to church. Questions are welcome, and there is room to explore faith at your own pace.

God

We believe in one God.

God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is loving, holy, faithful, and present with us.

Jesus

Jesus is at the centre.

We believe Jesus Christ was sent from the Father, fully God and fully human. He died for our sins, rose again, ascended to heaven, and continues to pray for us.

Scripture

The Bible shapes our faith and life.

We believe the Old and New Testaments show us what we need to know about God, salvation, and following Jesus in everyday life.

Grace

God's grace is for everyone.

We believe Jesus gave himself for the whole human race. Anyone who turns to him in faith can be forgiven, made new, and welcomed into God's family.

In plain English

What we believe changes how we live.

Christian faith is not only a set of ideas. It is a relationship with God through Jesus, lived out in worship, prayer, community, and practical love.

We need grace

We all need God's mercy and help. Left to ourselves, we turn away from God and hurt one another.

Jesus rescues

Through Jesus, God offers forgiveness, peace, purpose, and new life.

The Spirit transforms

The Holy Spirit helps us grow in love, freedom, courage, and Christlike character.

Hope is ahead

We believe Jesus will return, the dead will be raised, and God will bring justice, mercy, and final judgement.

Holiness

Holiness means becoming more like Jesus.

In the Church of the Nazarene, holiness is not about pretending to be perfect or following a rigid list of rules. It is about the Holy Spirit shaping us from the inside out so we love God with our whole heart and love our neighbours as ourselves.

We believe God's grace does more than forgive us. God also changes us, heals us, and sends us to live with compassion, humility, and courage.

Church of the Nazarene

Part of a wider Christian family.

Millbrook is a local congregation within the worldwide Church of the Nazarene, a Protestant Christian church with roots going back to 1908.

The Church of the Nazarene exists to make Christlike disciples in the nations. In plain English, that means helping people know Jesus, become more like him, and share his love wherever they are.
